Chatham's Summer Reading Club is an opportunity for us to read and discuss a book together as a church over the summer.
For 2026, we're reading "Dark Clouds, Deep Mercy: Discovering the Grace of Lament" by Mark Vroegop. This book seeks to restore the lost art of lament in order to help readers discover the power of honest wrestling with the questions that come with grief and suffering. Exploring how the Bible—through the psalms of lament and the book of Lamentations—gives voice to our pain, the reader is invited to grieve, struggle and tap into the rich reservoir of grace and mercy God offers in the darkest moments of our lives, helping us grow spiritually in seasons of sorrow.
This title is available to borrow and download for free as an e-book or audiobook from Hoopla via the St. Louis County Library.
You can also download a free e-book to keep from The Gospel Coalition.
Pick up a Summer Reading Club bookmark, available in the Learning Center and Worship Center foyers.
On Sunday, August 30, we'll have a Summer Reading Club Discussion during our regular Formation Class time at 9 a.m.
We hope you'll join us in reading this summer!
