Knowing God

Knowing God means knowing His Son, Jesus Christ.

What Does It Mean to Know God?

Knowing God means knowing the one who created us and everything around us. We were made to not only know him, but to be known and loved by him. We were designed for healthy relationships with our Creator, one another and our world. But as we doubt and disregard God, we find damage and even death all around us. Nothing we do can ultimately fix what’s broken. Yet God promised long ago that someone would come and make things right again. (Genesis 1-3)

Knowing God means knowing the gospel, which is God’s announcement to the world that he accepts us not based on anything we do, but on what Jesus Christ, the Son of God, did in our place. The Bible calls this grace. Because of his love, Jesus became human, lived the perfect life we were supposed to live, died a death we deserve, and rose again to give us a new life and relationship with God. (John 3:16-18)

Knowing God means having faith in Jesus as Lord, which is accepting and resting in his grace and love. This motivates us to follow him and live as his disciples. As we grow in the power of his Holy Spirit, we want to help others grow in their relationships with him until he returns and brings complete restoration and renewal to our world. (Revelation 21-22)

If you would like to know God, you can speak to him in prayer any time. Ask his forgiveness for doubting and disregarding him, and express your desire to trust Jesus and know him more.

Whether you are just learning about who God is or have known him for many years, we’d love to help you to grow as a disciple of Jesus. We encourage you to get to know his story in the Bible, and we welcome you to join us for our Sunday worship service.
